This is a custom-made Dongyun guzheng model #102 with the plain elegant design. The guzheng is equipped with concert quality Dunhuang B strings and custom-made Beijing Style blackwood bridges.

The sound of this instrument is deep and warm with balanced range. The bass is full, the high notes are sweet, and the mid-range is clean and solid.

This model has 1 year warranty from the manufacturer. It comes with a 2-piece stands, Musedo Guzheng Chromatic tuner, finger picks, and 1-7 spare strings. It is the whole package that leads you to enjoy playing. We provide set-up instruction that's easy to follow. Help on set-up and playing is always offered over the phone or the internet free of charge.

Dongyun Guzheng is founded by the founder of the Scarlet Bird Zhuque Factory Master Zai Zhirong. His dream on developing the "perfect guzheng" does not stop at his retirement from the Scarlet Bird Factory. Thus, he came out with the "Dongyun".

In the Dongyun guzheng, Master Zai made a few major changes from the Scarlet Bird to fix the common known weakness of the Scarlet Bird. First, he widened the shape of the sound grooves. The goal is to minimize the blooming bass affect of the Scarlet Bird, yet retain the deep and warm bass. Then he added a tone bar underneath the soundboard to make the high notes rounder and brighter.

He designed the new sound holes on the backboard to make the sound comes out more balanced and evenly. The interior construction is also modified to keep the middle range clean and solid.

On the other hand, Master Zai keeps the traditional way of carving out the sound body. The body board made of paulownia (pao-tong) tree(naturally grows in Henan Province), which is artificially hollowed out in the middle, has greatly improved the sound quality of the instrument. In the other words, it takes almost the whole tree just to make one single guzheng.


This model is custom-made for Sound of China. All the bridges and strings are fine-tuned and adjusted to ensure the best sound quality.
